Assisting pregnancy rates pays off

As replacement heifer values continue to climb, the most expensive fertility treatment is culling. Instead, herd owners can afford a more cost-effective solution - using their vet to detect and treat cows that fail to conceive.

 

Even when overall pregnancy rates are 60%, naturally, 16 out of 100 cows will need three or more services to get in-calf. If pregnancy rates fall to 40%, this figure if pushed up to 36 cows out of 100.
