Cows may now be at grass, but detecting a case of mastitis early enough to treat it effectively remains a priority. Mastitis isn’t just an udder problem with signs of hot, hard, swollen quarters – cows can also be sick, lag behind and stop grazing. The potential losses soon start to add up as a fall in intakes can, in turn, produce a blip in fertility.
