Connecting with Veterinary Education

The Connect initiative provides information and support for UK veterinary students, by offering educational assistance and support for research during their college years. The scheme includes the following benefits:

  • The Connect Bursaries – The annual Connect Bursaries continue to go from strength to strength having provided financial assistance to veterinary medicine undergraduates to carry out a wide range of research projects in the UK for over 20 years.

    There are two categories of award available:

    The Connect Bursary for research projects focusing on any species;

    A single Equine Connect Bursary for equine related projects.

    Each year research project applications for a Connect or Equine Connect Bursary are reviewed by the Connect Bursary Committee and awarded to a veterinary student from each of the UK’s veterinary schools, with a single Equine Connect Bursary awarded to the best equine related project from across the veterinary schools. The successful nominees receive an award of £1,000 towards the costs of their research project, and are invited to the MSD Animal Health Connect Bursary Awards Day to make a short presentation outlining their research.

    Three overall winners are selected at the Connect Bursary Awards Day and awarded a share of the £6,000 prize fund, with £3,000 and the Connect Trophy being awarded for the first placed report, £2,000 for second and £1,000 for third placed reports.
